No. 6 Bobcats receive at-large bid to national tournament

ELLISVILLE – The soccer season is still on for the Jones College women's team.

 

Head coach Dolores Deasley's 12-2 Bobcats are one of four teams to receive an at-large invitation to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament June 4-9 in Evans, Georgia. The selection was announced Friday morning.

 

It is the first time for Jones to participate in a national tournament.

 

The Bobcats are the No. 6 seed and are in the same pool with No. 10 Lake County (Illinois) and No. 3 seed CCBC Essex (Maryland). Jones will face Lake County at 4 p.m. (Central) on June 5 and CCBC Essex at 4 p.m. (Central) on June 6.

 

The other pools consist of No. 1 seed Phoenix (Arizona), No. 8 Waubonsee (Illinois) and No. 12 Muskegon (Michigan); No. 2 Holmes, No. 7 St. Louis (Missouri) and No. 11 Allen County (Kansas); and No. 4 Heartland (Illinois), No. 5 Howard (Maryland) and No. 9 Northeast (Nebraska).

 

The four pool winners will meet in the semifinals on June 8 with the championship game slated for June 9.
