PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast heads into the MACJC quarterfinals with some confidence, even with a disappointing record.

The Bulldogs (3-11-1) travel to Fulton to play Itawamba (15-3) on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://www.letsgoicctv.com/red.

"I think we've had a good last couple of weeks of the season," Gulf Coast coach Jackie Rhodes said. "We've won some games. I think we've got some momentum going forward, and we've had a big week of practice to prepare for Itawamba, which is one of the hottest teams in the state now. As long as we stick to our gameplan, we have a chance to be successful."

Gulf Coast finished third in the MACJC South by winning its last two regular-season games. Itawamba is on a 14-game winning streak, including a takedown of North Division champ Holmes.

But the Bulldogs have reason for optimism because of the first meeting of the season between the teams. Gulf Coast led 3-2 at halftime in Fulton on Sept. 14 before falling 4-3.

"It gives us a little confidence going into the game that we can compete with this team," Rhodes said. "Hopefully, we can take that game and use it for this game."
