Lady Bobcats post shutout at Southwest

SUMMIT – The Jones College Lady Bobcats posted another MACJC South Division shutout here Tuesday afternoon at Bear Soccer Field.

Jones whipped Southwest 7-0 to improve its record to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in division play. Jones defeated Mississippi Gulf Coast 4-0 in its division opener last week.

Rachel Barnaby (Derry, Ireland) had three goals and two assists with Esmeralda Figueroa (Northeast Jones) posting two goals and one assist.

Barnaby got the first goal at 14:27 with Madison LaFontaine (Pass Christian) on the assist. Barnaby scored at 18:48 with Figueroa getting the assist. Figueroa was then the recipient of a Barnaby assist at 21:38 to make it 3-0. Figueroa then scored with an assist going to Anna Crane (Pearl) at 41:54. Crane assisted Barnaby at 43:00 and Chelsea Morton (Vancleave) scored at 44:50 with a Natasha Keen (Jersey, England) assist to make it 6-0 at halftime.

Emily Riley (Gautier) scored at 60:15 on a Barnaby assist to end the scoring.

Alexis Wilson (Long Beach) played 58 minutes with two saves and got the win. Sarah Sumrall (Northeast Jones) played the final 32 minutes and had a save.

Jones continues division play with a 5 p.m. home match on Friday vs. Meridian. The game will air on www.jcjc.tv.

Southwest, 0-4 and 0-1, goes to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
