Lady Wildcats resume division play with 2-0 victor

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College got back into South Division play Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory on the road at Meridian.

 

PRCC remained undefeated for the season at 6-0-3 overall, and are second in the South Division at 3-0-2, 10 percentage points behind division-leading Jones County. Meridian dropped to 2-8 and 1-4.

 

Sophomore Abbi Henderson (Leakesville) scored on a penalty kick for Pearl River, and sophomore Lacey Polderman (Picayune) scored the other goal, with sophomore Mellie Snyder (Leakesville) getting the assist.

 

Polderman leads the Lady Wildcats with seven goals this season, matching her team-high total from last season.

 

Henderson has four goals and two assists, while freshman Sarah Havens (Hurley) has four goals and three assists. It was Havens who had the game-winner in a 1-0 overtime victory over Itawamba last week, with Shelby Lowery (Laurel) assisting.

 

Pearl River will be back in action at 5 p.m. Friday, as the Lady Wildcats host Mississippi Gulf Coast at the PRCC Sports Complex. The game will be live-streamed on prccmedia.com and youtube.com/pearlrivercollege.
