PERKINSTON – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats posted an important MACJC South Division victory here Tuesday night.
The Lady Bobcats scored twice in the second half and defeated Mississippi Gulf Coast, 2-0.
In the men's game, the Bulldogs notched a 4-1 decision.
JCJC plays its final home matches of the season on Friday. It will be "Sophomore Night" as the Bobcats host Southwest. The women's game starts at 5 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7 p.m. Sophomores will be recognized between games.
MGCCC goes to Pearl River on Friday.
Lady Bobcats 2, Lady Bulldogs 0
Mikayla Banks (Vicksburg) scored both of JCJC's goals in the second half.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal for the entire game and recorded the shutout.
The Lady Bobcats are now 6-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in division play.
MGCCC falls to 3-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the division.
Bulldogs 4, Bobcats 1
C.J. Smith scored in the 21st minute to give MGCCC a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Bulldogs got a goal from Gage Switzer to make it 2-0 and Smith then scored again to make it 3-0. Jordan Hall scored MGCCC's final goal in the 77th minute.
The Bobcats avoided the shutout in the 89th minute when Davis Gibson (Sacred Heart) scored off an assist by Thomas Carlile (Athgarvan, Ireland).
The Bobcats are now 4-6-1 overall, 1-4 in the division.
The Bulldogs are 8-3 overall, 5-0 in the division.
