WILDCATS
Pearl River (4-3) enters Wednesday's game riding momentum from a 66-62 win at Meridian in the regular season finale. Despite being previously sidelined due to COVID-19 contact tracing the Wildcats turned in an impressive performance. Led by Otashae Burrage (Carthage; Leake County) and Keshunti Nichols (Pearl), four different Wildcats scored in double figures. Burrage and Nichols led PRCC with 18 points apiece, while Ty'Mesha Reed (Meridian) and Bryanna Taylor (Terry) chipped in 12 and 10 respectively. Nichols was also one rebound shy of a double-double, pulling in nine in the thrilling win.
Burrage has been a leader all season for PRCC. Her 13.7 points per game leads the Wildcats. Reed, Taylor and Nichols aren't far off of a double-digit pace, averaging 9.9, 9.3 and 9.0 ppg. Collectively, the Wildcats are scoring 61.4 ppg and shooting 39.1 percent from the floor.
SCOUTING DELGADO
Delgado comes into Wednesday's showdown with a 9-5 overall record. Due to COVID-19 schedule changes, the Dolphins' schedule consisted predominantly of games against LSU-Eunice, Baton Rouge and Southern University-Shreveport. According to NJCAA.org, three Dolphins are scoring in double figures. Nashalie Dominguez leads DCC with 15.9 ppg, followed closely behind by Skylar Davis' 12.3 and Brionne Woods' 10.3. Delgado is averaging 62.4 ppg and shooting 40.9 percent from the floor.
SERIES
Although PRCC and DCC didn't play in 2021, the two are common opponents. Pearl River is riding a 14-game winning streak against the Dolphins, dating back to the 2012-13 season.
