The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles dropped a close one at home Monday night. The Lady Eagles fell into an early 8-0 deficit and couldn't get back into the game falling 60-47.
The Lady Eagles got off to a slow start by remaining scoreless for the first 6 minutes of game action. Jordan Bell ended the scoreless streak with a 3 to make it 8-3. Jada Arrington followed with a 3 of her own to make it 8-6 but unfortunately that was as close as the Lady Eagles would get it.
The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Eagles 16-8 in the 2nd quarter to build a 29-16 lead heading into the half.
The 3rd quarter saw the Lady Eagles continue to struggle against the Lady Bears defense. The Lady Eagles were unable to get many shots to fall and the Lady Bears continued to stretch their lead. At the end of the 3rd the Lady Eagles trailed 39-25.
The Lady Eagles made a run to start the 4th quarter and were able to cut the deficit to 8. That was as close as the Lady Eagles would get it as the Lady Bears hit quite a few free throws to ice the game away.
With the loss the Lady Eagles fall to 9-9 on the season. They will be back in action Thursday, February 7 against Hinds Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 at Hinds.
