MGCCC Lady Bulldogs head to Summit

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will try to break the logjam in the middle of the MACJC South when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Southwest.

 

Both teams are 1-1 and tied for second in the division, and the game tips off at 5:30 p.m.

Last Time Out

•     MGCCC lost 52-43 at Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday. Breannah McCullah (So., Edwards/Raymond) led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points.


•     Southwest lost 65-64 in overtime at Meridian on Thursday. Ty Lee led the Lady Bears with 14 points.


Previous Meeting

Southwest edged Gulf Coast 64-62 in Summit in the regular-season finale last season. Shelli Thigpen (So., Wylie, Texas/Wylie) led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points.

Notes

•     Kayla Simmons (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) is averaging 12.6 rebounds per game, which would rank sixth in the country if she'd played enough games to qualify for the leaderboard. The Southwest game will make her eligible. She would also rank in the top 20 in field goal percentage.

•     Mia Goolsby (Fr., Greenville, S.C./Legacy Early College) is ninth in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.8.
