No. 7 Lady Bobcats clinch MACJC South Division title

ELLISVILLE – The 7th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats captured its second straight MACJC South Division crown in impressive fashion.

The Lady Bobcats placed six players in double figures and crushed Mississippi Gulf Coast 102-52 here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

The victory improves JCJC to 18-3 overall and 11-1 in division play.

JCJC led 18-12 entering the final minute of the first quarter.

Jones then scored 10 points in the final 58 seconds to take a 28-12 after the quarter.

Camryn London's (Birmingham, Alabama) basket at 8:25 of the second period capped a 17-0 run and put Jones up 35-12. Madison Bishop's (Collegiate Christian) shot in the lane gave JCJC a 50-19 halftime lead.

Chrystal Ezechukwu's (Stone Mountain, Georgia) layup at the buzzer off an assist by Breonca Ducksworth (West Jones) put the Lady Bobcats up 85-39 entering the final quarter.

JCJC's largest lead was at the end of the game.

K.K. Tassin (Terry) led Jones with 14 points with Kira Bonner (Quitman), London and Zakyia Weathersby (Collins) scoring 13 points each. Nique Cherry (Heidelberg) and Ducksworth each had 11.

Keiara Williams topped MGCCC with 10 points.

The Lady Bulldogs are 6-15 overall, 0-12 in division play.
