Coahoma Lady Tigers Lose Tough Road Game at Northeast

BOONEVILLE– The Coahoma Lady Tigers was looking for payback against Northeast Mississippi Community College. They started out strong but Northeast answers with some big plays in a 102-71 victory on Thursday night.

 

Coahoma took an early 10-5 lead. Walneika Holmes knocked down back to back three pointers. Northeast answers with a 14-0 run. Tyra Tucker knocked a three pointer giving Northeast a 19-10 lead. Geneva Walker makes a three pointer cutting the lead to 25-19 ending the first quarter.

 

Northeast (13-5, 6-1 MACJC North) increased their lead to 31-21 when Adallice Young scored driving layup. Holmes scores a driving layup cutting the lead to 31-25. Then Holmes scores another layup cutting the lead further to 33-30 with 3:52 remaining in the second quarter.

 

Northeast answers with a 14-2 run to close out the first half. Dayzsha Rogan scores a driving layup extending the lead to 47-32 at the half.

 

Lameka President and Walker scored a pair of layups cutting the lead to 51-35. Northeast pulls away with another layup by Young extending the lead to 57-37.

 

Northeast had four players that scored in double figures. Aundrea Adams led the Lady Tigers with 30 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Rogan finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Tucker finished with 16 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals. Cherelle Jones scored 14 points and 13 rebounds.

 

Coahoma had three players that scored in double figures. Holmes led the Lady Tigers with 32 points and five rebounds. Walker finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals. President finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

 

Coahoma goes to (2-15, 0-7 MACJC North) on the season. They will continue MACJC Northern Division action against East Mississippi Community College. The game is set for 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at The Pinnacle.

 

It will be part of a doubleheader followed by Coahoma vs. East Mississippi men's game at

8 p.m.
