RIDGELAND – Trailing by a goal at the break, Chris Dempsey and Justis Casey scored back-to-back goals in a 16-second span in the 54th minute and Jones never looked back in a 4-1 win Tuesday at Freedom Ridge Park.
Jones improved to 2-1 on the young season while Holmes fell to 0-1-1.
Brady Jacobs gave the host Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute, scoring on a rocket shot from 20 yards out.
Three big saves by Callum Harley to start the second half helped keep it a 1-0 deficit and setup the equalizer five minutes later.
Dempsey helped JC draw even at the 53:23-mark and immediately helped the Bobcats back down the field and take their first lead, 2-1, just 16 seconds later by assisting on Casey's goal.
Jones threatened to extend its lead in the 73rd minute when Alejandro Pocasangre hit the post. The freshman missed out on his second goal of the year but assisted on Dempsey's goal in the 74th minute that made it 3-1. Casey capped the scoring in the 77th minute.
The Bobcats will host Gulf Coast on Friday at 7 p.m. to open south division play. Tony Buckley will have the call on JCJC.TV.
