Dodge City men's basketball bounced back into the win column to head into the holiday break in sole possession of first place in the Jayhawk Conference after an 82-80 win over Cloud County on Monday.

The Conquistadors held off the Thunderbirds to improve to 11-2 on the season and 7-1 in KJCCC action. The Conqs also made it four in a row in the series against Cloud County.

Cloud County grabbed the early lead until the Conqs tied the contest up at 8-8 with just over 16 minutes left in the first half. The Conqs then grabbed the lead, but the contest would be tight and back-and-forth until the Conqs finished the first half on a 7-0 run including a Chris Robinson three-pointer to lead 43-36 at intermission. To open the second half the Conqs went on an 8-2 run over first four minutes to grab a double figure lead going up 51-38 marking the largest lead of the contest. The Conqs would continually hold the advantage, but Cloud County put together a late push and drew within two-points with around 40 seconds left. The Thunderbirds would have a pair of opportunities late that would come up short and the Conqs held on for the 82-80 victory.

Conqs shot 47.7% from the floor and made nine three-pointers, while Cloud County shot 42.3% from the floor.

Jacobi Sebock led the Conqs as he posted a double-double with 20 points on 8-13 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds. Jason Edwards and Avnoor Bhullar each chipped in 16 points on the night, while Robinson tallied 13 points on 5-10 shooting. Cam Malray added 10 points in the Conqs victory.

The Conqs head into the holiday in sole possession of first place in the Jayhawk Conference and will be back in action in non-conference play when they host #5 Indian Hills on Saturday, December 31st at 3:00 pm.
