A big week from sophomore Brian Halums helped the Indians improve to 5-2 on the year with a 79-72 come-from-behind win at Wallace (AL) Community College of Selma and an 84-82 win at Arkansas Mid-South Community College.
On Monday, Halums (Simmons) scored 15-straight to rally the Indians to a 71-65 lead with 1:45 left in the game. The Indians took care of business from the free throw line to hang on for the win at Wallace-Selma.
The Ole Miss signee finished the night with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Tre Jenkins (Tupelo) scored 14 with Paris Harris (Hot Springs, AR) adding 12 in the victory.
Thursday, Halums recorded his third double-double of the season after scoring 28 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, but it was freshman Chayton York (Philadelphia) that proved to be the difference maker in the Indians' road win against Mid-South.
York scored seven of the Indians' final 11 points, including going 5-of-6 from the free throw line, in the final four minutes of the game. Jenkins scored 16 while Harris recorded his first collegiate double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Lady Indians roll at Selma, fall in OT at Mid-South
Sophomore Eryka Williams (Starkville) came off the bench to score a game-high 16 in the Lady Indians' (4-3) 81-62 win at Wallace-Selma. Jaleigha Polk (Tupelo), Kaylyn Wilson (Columbus), and Che' Curlee (Booneville) scored 12 each with Shaniyah Buford (Abeeville) adding 10 points.
Wilson scored a game-high 14 points, Taneshia Miller (Greenville) came off the bench to score 13, and Polk added 12 in the Lady Indians' 62-58 loss at Mid-South. The Lady Greyhounds threw up a no-look three at the end of regulation that forced the game into overtime.
Free Basketball in Fulton Saturday
ICC will host Southern-Shreveport on Saturday for Fan Appreciation Day. The athletic department will waive admission to the Region 23 games as an early Christmas gift to fans for their loyal support of ICC athletics. The Lady Indians will tip things off at 1:00 and the Indians will wrap up the day at 3:00 p.m.
