Jones, East MS, & Northwest secure significant wins in week 7 action

There were some close games again this week in Mississippi JUCO football. Jones grinds out the road win over rival Pearl River while Mississippi Delta picks up a divisional win with the win at Northeast. The Co-Lin Wolves win at East Central in dramatic fashion.

Jones 28 Pearl River 22

  • JC Running back La'Damian Webb  rushed for 170 yards on 24 carries and eclipsed  the 1,000-yard mark for the year  to go with two touchdowns

Northwest 38 MS Gulf Coast 14

  • NWCC RB Jaquerrious Williams rushed for 105 yards
  • Defensively Northwest was led by Sam Brumfield with nine tackles

East Mississippi 52 Coahoma 6

  • EMCC clinches the north division crown in the conference with the victory and will host the first round of the league playoffs.

Hinds 50 Southwest 3

  • Hinds RB Jeffrey Pittman had 11 carries for 130 yards, and three touchdowns. Pittman also added 3 receptions and an additional touchdown to his night.

Co-Lin 20 East Central 17 OT

  • Wolves RB Bobby Shanklin Jr. rushed 18 times for 111 yards and QB Paul Hargave connected with WR Erick Rogers for the game winning touchdown in overtime.

Itawamba 37 Holmes 7

  • ICC QB Hunter Jones went 11-14 for 162 yards and a touchdown and LB Corley Hooper posted 15 tackles in the victory.

MS Delta 19 Northeast 14

  • MDCC led wire to wire to pick up the victory.
